We’ve got a place for you!
Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. - Psalm 33:3
The music ministry of Shirley Hills Baptist Church has a place for you! From children’s choirs to choruses for senior adults, music plays a crucial role at our church.
Here’s a brief overview of our music ministry:
Children’s Choirs — We’ve got three different choirs for children, from age 4 through Grade 5.
Youth Music — Our youth praise band leads Wednesday night worship times for our students. Youth ensembles sing in special events, and in mission opportunities.
Adults — Our Celebration Choir, church orchestra, and praise teams are a major part of our worship services and special music presentations.
Senior adults — This group has fun, sings in a variety of locations, and even adds a bell choir to the mix.
This group ministers each week during both of our morning services and is open to any adult who is interested in singing. This choir leads our Sunday worship services each week, and often provides special times of worship with musical presentations. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays (6:30-7:30 p.m.) in the choir suite. You’ll find the suite on the second floor of the worship center, directly above the church office. Childcare is provided.
This group is open to all individuals who are already proficient on an instrument. There are two different orchestras that lead worship each Sunday morning (for the two different services). The orchestras combine for special programs and Sundays with only one worship service.
The First Service orchestra leads worship in the 9 a.m. service and is slightly more traditional in composition (wind and stringed instruments with a rhythm section). This orchestra rehearses each Wednesday from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. in the choir suite.
The Second Service orchestra leads worship in the 10:30 a.m. service and is slightly more contemporary in composition (rhythm section and stringed instruments). This orchestra rehearses each Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. in the Worship Center.
Children’s choir is an important part of the music ministry at Shirley Hills. Children are guided through musical, spiritual, physical, and social activities designed build on their faith in Jesus Christ. These groups practice each Sunday at 5 p.m. during the school year.
This choir is for our 50-and-older members. This group rehearses from 10:30-11:30 a.m. each Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall, occasionally sings during worship services, and often sings in ministry opportunities.
The Golden Tones is the handbell choir for our Senior Adults. This group rehearses each Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Bride’s Room. This group is directed by Jackie Bailey.
